Monthly Charges
Prices vary a great deal from supplier to supplier. You can buy broadband for as little as £10 per month but "you get what you pay for" holds true for broadband as in many other areas.
Lower cost products may
- have high contention ratios. Lots of other subscribers sharing the same access to networks beyond the telephone exchange. Meaning that at busy times the apparent speed of service will be significantly lower.
- be capped. Meaning the amount of data you can download per month within the price is limited. Usage above this is permitted but will generate extra charges which can be quite expensive.
- have limited support. What do you do when you have a problem? Does the provider provide a number to call for help, is that available 24/7. The higher the quality and availability of support then the higher the price will be.
You will also pay a higher price for a higher speed service.
